Busy, Busy, Busy...

...as you might have guessed from the length of the previous posts. But there is time for one quick thought this morning: does anyone else think that the NCAA college basketball tournament sort of epitomizes our culture? It's sprawling in it's big-ness, there's clear winners and losers, we delight in the underdog, and almost every possible advertising angle has been gobbled up by corporations trying to elbow their way into our consciousness.

Ladies and gentlemen, God bless America.

Oh, and my Tar Heels as they roll into the Final Four.

What hacks me off about this state of affairs is that I am forced to explain to my 9-year-old son what Viagra is. Are TV execs really stupid enough to think that no one under 18 years of age watches college basketball or do they simply not care? I think we know the answer.

st. melancholic,

for those of us with little kids not yet there, or even with kids your age, any words of advice for how to handle that fun conversation?
